The base of the simulator needs to be solid and it has to house some of the control mechanisms. I built a rectangular box and divided it into three compartments. The middle compartment will have to house the pitch and roll constructions as well as the yokes ‘Y’-bar connection bracket. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a couple of thousand words to illustrate how I went to work.

I did not take any photos while building the initial box, here is a photo of the box with the pully mechanism already installed.
The potentiometer for the roll axis can clearly be seen in the 3D printed bracket. the Potentiometer had a small gear on the shaft which in turn is connected to a larger gear which has been epoxied onto the pulley.

The base is covered with a 22mm MDF sheet. The sheet that is seen in the images is the old one which I cut before my pedals arrived. I now have new sheets for the floor and these will be measured, place and cut in the very near future.
